As the principal of Olin Stage and Screen, Matt Olin has created, developed and produced nearly 60 projects since 1996.

Olin moved from CBS Specials and Feature Films to Columbia University’s Graduate School of the Arts, and he found himself quickly ascending the ranks as a producer in New York’s theatre scene. By his mid-twenties, he was a member of Dodger Theatricals’ elite Broadway Executive Producing team, creating Broadway and Off-Broadway shows with artists the likes of Nathan Lane, Victor Garber, Sam Mendes, Jim Belushi, Matthew Broderick, Sarah Jessica Parker, Ralph Fiennes, Lou Diamond Phillips, Marie Osmond, Whoopi Goldberg, Savion Glover and others. While a member of this prolific producing company, their numerous Broadway productions, Off-Broadway shows and national tours received 14 Tony Awards, 49 Tony Award nominations and a Drama Desk Award nomination.

Olin then began a two-year engagement as Managing Director and Producer of Charlotte Repertory Theatre, building productions around such talents as Academy Award-winning actress Hilary Swank. From there, Olin launched his independent producing career with projects that received “Theatrical Event of the Year” nods two years in a row. With the blessing of London’s renowned Improbable Theatre, Olin mounted the first-ever American production of LIFEGAME, which Creative Loafing called “so compelling and true-to-life in a way conventional theater can never be,” and The Observer called “an impressive and richly entertaining experience of theatrical storytelling.” His innovative HOTEL PROJECT was hailed as “stunning” by Charlotte Theatre Magazine, and spawned a centerpiece production for the 30th Anniversary Humana Festival at The Actor’s Theatre of Louisville. Olin also teamed with up-and-coming NYC theatre company Ground UP Productions to develop and produce the world premiere of THE OPTIMIST, a production which The New Yorker applauded as “deliriously entertaining… compelling drama” and which EdgeNewYork called “hilarious…raw and revealing.” Most recently, he conceived, commissioned and developed THE OTHER PLACE, a new play starring Laurie Metcalf and directed by Joe Mantello which had a critically-acclaimed Off-Broadway World Premiere, garnering a number of award nominations and wins (including an Outer Critics Circle Award nomination for “Outstanding New Off-Broadway Play”), was named by Playbill as one of the “Unforgettable Experiences of 2011” and concluded an extended, Tony-nominated Broadway run in March 2013. To date, the play has been produced in over 40 cities nationally and internationally.

As a musician, Matt built the rock band Shadowflag into “One of the Nation’s Top 2 Unsigned Bands” (Zippo Hot Tour), touring and sharing stages with such artists as Crossfade, 3 Doors Down, Three Days Grace, Cinderella, REO Speedwagon, Blondie and A Flock of Seagulls.

Olin continues to create more groundbreaking shows for the stage and screen, collaborating with partners in NYC, LA and beyond, while also lecturing at colleges and universities on such topics as project development, professional producing, theater management, and arts administration.
